About Our Chamber

The Springtown Area Chamber of Commerce is located on the historic down town square in Springtown, Texas.  Our office is housed in one of the oldest buildings in town.  The building was erected in 1901 by Sam Roberson who is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for having been in business for 63 years, "never owing a nickel nor having a nickel owed him."  After Roberson died, the building remained in the family until 1992 when the owner, Margaret Ritchey, sold the building to the Chamber of Commerce.

Our Chamber was originally incorporated in 1966, but later disbanded.  The chamber was re-established in 1979 and has been showing steady growth ever since.  Over the past several years, the Chamber has concentrated on restoring the historic building.  With the help of many volunteers, the outside front of the building was completely renovated in September, 2002.  Then in 2004 the second phase of the remodeling  added a large conference area, kitchen and new bathroom to the Chamber Office.  In 2006 several generous Chamber members donated the final phase of the remodeling project to renovate the inside of the building to it's present day decor.

For four to five years, the Chamber provided space for the Legends Museum.  With future growth in mind, the Legends Museum moved to their new location in February, 2001.  They are now housed in a historic home on North Main Street which has been renovated.  Our Chamber provides office space for Cares and Shares Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to assisting Neighbor to Neighbors and the Springtown Independent School District serve our community needs.

Our Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of 21 directors, an ex-officio, and an Executive Director who handles the day-to-day operations.  The Chamber has worked very hard to establish an "esprit de corps" with all entities within the city to promote the best interests of our community.  Our Board of Directors is representative of a cross-section of community members; therefore, we feel that input from all facets of the community is achieved.
